I was participating in yet another leadership development program when I received a new speck of knowledge.  The moderator asked if we had ever felt like we had a great idea, had diligently worked on it and failed to make it a success.  Obviously, the anwer was yes.

She then suggested that if we ever find ourselves in that same position, we should step back and evaluate if we are fighting the stream or going with it.  Well that image quickly settled in my mind and I will evaluate difficult situations from here forward in terms of where the stream is going.  Innovation is not going against the flow of the market but leaping ahead of it as we all eventually end up downstream.
